TASBO Above and Beyond Award
 

On December 3, 2003, the TASBO Board of Directors approved a new award program called, “Above & Beyond Award.”  The Board created this program so TASBO members could recognize other TASBO members for service above and beyond their regular job responsibilities.  Often, these unsung acts of service go unrecognized. 

Any TASBO member in good standing that has been a continuous member for a minimum of five years is eligible to be nominated for the TASBO Above & Beyond Award.  The nominating TASBO member(s) should base the recommendation on the following criteria:

·         Willingness to go “above and beyond” what would be considered normal job responsibilities on behalf of their school district, their community or TASBO as demonstrated through specific actions.

·         Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with fellow employees and/or TASBO members. 

TASBO members should complete the Above & Beyond nomination form below and mail it to Gwen Santiago, Executive Director, TASBO, 2538 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704.  Any number of candidates may be nominated for the TASBO Above & Beyond Award. All nominations will remain confidential. Award recipients will be notified prior to any notice or publication of their recognition. 

A selection committee consisting of one TASBO staff member and two TASBO board members appointed by the president will screen the nominations to see that they meet the criteria. Successful nominations will be those with substantive, specific descriptions of the reasons for the nomination.  The screeners will base their decisions on the strength and quality of the input received.  The number of recognitions is not limited since the idea is to acknowledge deserving recipients. 

The names of award recipients will be published in the TASBO Report and each recipient will receive a special Certificate of Recognition.  In addition, the recipient’s superintendent will receive a letter from TASBO notifying him/her of the recognition. 

Remember, selecting TASBO Above & Beyond Award recipients is not a competition.  It is intended to recognize any members who have gone “above and beyond” the call of duty.  The success of this award process is contingent upon your involvement.  So keep your eye out for deserving recipients and send in those nomination forms.  Help encourage us all by sharing the good news about the service of others.
