ACT105B Basic Governmental Accounting Part Ii (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Students must complete ACT105A Part 1 before taking this course. This continues basic governmental accounting by introducing the encumbrance system, budget variances, and an in-depth explanation of the different fund types used in school district accounting.
These courses meet from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. A test will be given for those taking the course for TASBO certification credit. The courses also provide continuing education credit for TASBO certification, CPAs, school board members, charter school administrators, STEM participants and certified educators. ACT203B Investing School Funds (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Review of investment risks, investment controls and and strategies, depository contracts, reporting requirements and compliance with the Public Funds Investment Act are some of the topics covered in this course.
These certification courses are designed to meet the requirements of the Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA). The law requires investment officers to attend at least 10 hours of training relating to the officer’s responsibilities within 12 months after assuming the duties and at least 10 hours of additional training every two years thereafter. Each course meets from 9 am to 4 pm and counts as six (6) hours of TASBO continuing education credit or as one (1) unit for TASBO certification credit. ACT 203A is not a prerequisite of 203B.
A test will be given for those taking the course for TASBO certification credit. The course also provides continuing education credit for TASBO certification, CPAs, school board members, charter school administrators, STEM participants and certified educators. CEU Hours – 6 / CPE Hours – 7.
