IFA for the 2010-2011 School Year

9/3/09

The Texas Education Agency will make new IFA awards totaling $75 million in the summer of 2010 to provide funds for the 2010–11 school year. The Round 10 application deadline is 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

The Instructional Facilities Allotment (IFA) is state aid  for bond payments related to the construction of school buildings.  The IFA begins with the first bond payment while the other Facilities Aid program, the Existing Debt Allotment, requires that at least one bond payment be made without state assistance.

The availability of this program is being announced early so that districts will be able to meet the application requirements which, among other restrictions, require that an application be submitted after the bond election has been held, but before the bonds are priced.

There is no money appropriated for this purpose in 2009-2010 and the limited funds available in 2010-2011 will be awarded in the districts with the lowest property value per ADA.

The guidance on the TEA Instructional Facilities Allotment web page will assist districts planning to apply for this allotment.
