Last week, the U.S. Department of Education launched the Promise Neighborhood program, an initiative designed to improve educational outcomes through cradle-to-career services in the most distressed neighborhoods. The program is based upon an experience of similar programs that have boosted students' academic outcomes in high poverty areas. The department will fund up to 20 grants ranging between $400,000 and $500,000 for projects serving urban neighborhoods, rural areas and tribal communities. Applications are due by June 25. To register for webinars by the Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement on the application for potential applicants, click here.
