The Texas Education Agency School Finance Unit has requested tax collection data from school districts for the 2009-2010 school year. The data is to be reported in the online Foundation School Program System that is accessed through the Texas Education Agency Secure Environment (TEASE). The data will be used to produce near-final estimates in the Summary of Finance (SOF) reports in September 2010. The TEA notice stated, "If you do not take action regarding this message, your district's state funding could be adversely affected." The due date is August 13, 2010.
The information is especially important if the TEA has overestimated the school district's estimated tax collections in the legislative payment estimate (LPE) column of the SOF for the 2009-2010 school year. If this scenario applies and the data is not reported in the online FSP survey, then the school district's receipt of additional state aid for this reason will be delayed until March 2011 (when tax collection data from the district's annual financial audit is used for state aid calculations for the school year 2009-2010 SOF that will be posted in March 2011).
The TEA announcement stated questions about the survey should be referred to Al Johnson, state funding consultant, at 512.463.9260 or by email at
