TEA Pupil Projection System Opening Delayed Until Monday 10/4 PDF Print E-mail

10/2/10

Due to technical difficulties, the Texas Education Agency announced Friday that the opening of the pupil projection subsystem of the Foundation School Program (FSP) System was delayed for review and update until Monday, October 4, 2010.  The Pupil Projections subsystem of the FSP System is opened in October of even-numbered years for school districts to review and update projections. An announcement last week about the system stated, "The Pupil Projections subsystem will remain open for review and update of projections from [Monday, October 4, 2010], through Friday, December 17, 2010. These projections are used to develop estimates for the Texas Legislature related to the cost of public education for the next biennium. The projections are due to the legislature no later than March 1 of each odd-numbered year. Click here for additional information and instructions."

Care in making estimates for pupil projections is critical to ensure sufficient cash flow from the Foundation School Program to fund education-related activities.  Under projections can result in cash flow difficulties, including the need to borrow funds for operating costs.

To assist school districts in this effort, the TASBO Pupil Projection Template has been updated for the 2010-2011 year.

From the TASBO Home Page, select Resources→Tools TemplatesPupil Projection Template and click on the link to save the template to your computer before using the tool.

The template requires Microsoft Excel and is available in 97-2003 format and in 2007 Macro Enable Workbook format.
