The school year 2010-11 Bus Accident Reporting System (BARS) survey deadline is August 31, 2011, according to a recent announcement by the Texas Education Agency School Transportation Funding office. EVERY school district and open-enrollment charter school must use the web-based tool to submit information on bus accidents. The web-based survey must be completed even if there were no accidents meeting the reporting requirements during school year 2010-11.
The BARS collects the following required information.
-
"Number of bus accidents
-
For each accident:
-
Date of the accident
-
Type of bus involved
-
Number of students/adults involved in the accident
-
Number and types of injuries that were sustained by bus passengers
-
Whether injured passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and, if so, the type"
