The Texas Education Agency announced that the Educational Materials System (EMAT) is scheduled to open on August 8, 2011, for requisitions of instructional materials adopted under Proclamation 2011, Supplemental Science, continuing contracts and the Commissioner's List of Electronic Textbooks. 

The TEA notice also covers important new requirements related to instructional materials decisions resulting from legislation passed in the 82nd Legislative Session, including identification of priorities for selection of instructional materials, and certification by the superintendent of coverage of all areas of the essential knowledge and skills.   

TEA will calculate the instructional materials allotment (IMA) for each school district in July  2011 and districts will need to carefully plan for use of the calculated allocation over school years 2011-12 and 2012-13.
