9/13/11

TASBO's report on Financial Mandates on School Districts is updated for bills enacted by the 82nd Legislature, Regular and First Called Special Session.  To inform stakeholders about cost drivers involving financial mandates in the Texas public school system, TASBO first released the report Financial Mandates on School Districts in January 2011. In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the strains that expanding mandates have placed upon available current budgetary resources.  After reading this report, we hope that all readers will have a better understanding of why nearly all school district business officials that transitioned from other governmental sectors or from private enterprise are in agreement that there is nothing more complicated than financial management in the Texas public school system.
