This afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted 95 to zero to repeal a law that beginning in 2013 requires tax withholding of 3% of payments to vendors and contractors providing services to any governmental entity, including school districts.  A bill to repeal the withholding provisions passed just a few weeks ago in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The bill now returns to the U.S. House with amendments that provide tax credits to businesses that hire unemployed veterans.
