Yesterday, the Texas Education Agency communicated information on the possibility that all federal grants administered by the Texas Education Agency may be reduced by 8-14% for school year 2012-2013.  The process for for the reduction is referred to as "sequestration," which is authorized in the Budget Control Act of 2011.  TEA is initiating the sequestration process with a 10% reduction in school districts' and open-enrollment charter schools' planning amounts to avoid a reduction in the middle of school year 2012-2013.  TEA is providing more information on sequestration and the possible effects on Texas public schools in TETN sessions scheduled for

• Thursday May 31, 2012 at 3:15-4:15 p.m.
• Friday June 1, 2012 at 1:00-2:00 p.m.
