TEA Bus Accident Reporting Deadline is August 31, 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Last week, the Texas Education Agency announced the Bus Accident Reporting System (BARS) survey web site is now open to report bus accidents that occurred in school year 2011-2012.  Every school district and charter school is required to complete the TEA BARS survey by August 31, 2012.  The report is required even if the district has no accidents to report. If there are no accidents to report, then your school district or open-enrollment charter school must report zero.  The deadline to complete the survey is August 31, 2012.

The TEA announcement also stated, “A note on what to report: If an incident involved a citation, your district or charter school must report the incident as an accident. For an incident that did not involve a citation, your district or charter school has discretion over whether to report the incident as an accident.”

The BARS web site contains links to the survey and to all the background information about this requirement. It’s probably a good idea to visit the preview of the questions and organize your data before starting the actual survey.
