This week, the Texas Education Agency communicated updates to guidelines for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs concerning action required by school districts and open enrollment charter schools to provide notification of nondiscrimination. Prior to the beginning of the school year, every LEA providing CTE programs must advise students, parents, employees, and the general public that all career and technical education opportunities will be offered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability. This notification may be made through local newspapers or other media that reach the general public and will be provided in languages spoken by the local community. Accordingly, the notice is to be prepared in English, in addition to Spanish and other languages spoken within the boundaries of the school district or open-enrollment charter school.
