Running for the Board
The Board of Directors are elected by members annually at the Annual Conference. The volunteer board consists of 13 members, including four officers. Each year, three board member positions become available and one Vice President position. The Vice President ascends to the President role after also serving as President-Elect for a year. TASBO seeks the most qualified and dedicated candidates for its board of directors.
Key Dates for Board Candidates
- November 6 - Begin Accepting Board Applications
- December 1 - Board Application Deadline (by 5pm)
- December/January - Candidate Orientations
- Annual Conference/Election - February 15-18, 2021
Effective October 6, 2020, candidates for Director shall have attended two of the last three Annual Conferences prior to the filing deadline AND shall meet at least one of the following additional requirements:
- Served as an Officer of a Committee;
- Served as an Officer of an Affiliate Chapter;
- Presented at TASBO Annual, Summer or Maintenance and Operations Conference;
- Presented at a TASBO workshop or academy;
- Served as an instructor for a TASBO certification course; or,
- Written curriculum for a TASBO certification course.
In addition, candidates must hold a TASBO certification.

Candidate Application Checklist
> Resume information (Employment history, leadership experience, professional activities, education etc)
> Professional bio (300 words or less in the third person)
> In the application, you will make known your intent to run as Director or Officer
> Letter from the candidate’s immediate supervisor indicating their support and approval of the time and effort required to be a member or officer of the Board of Directors
> High-resolution head shot photograph (at least 1 MB)

In the Director Job Description, we have outlined the qualifications and responsibilities of serving on the board. We are looking for members dedicated to the profession and TASBO, and are willing to donate their time to be participate in board activities.
