TASBO concludes an incredible 3 week-run of courses, sessions, and connections during its 75th Annual Conference.
3 weeks. 75 professional certification courses. 122 learning sessions. 5 general sessions. 1 Hall-of-Famer. 75 years of TASBO. Oh, and a historic ice storm that disrupted people and schools throughout the state. As the 2021 Virtual TASBO Engage Conference closes, we need to express our gratitude to the staff, volunteers, speakers, and attendees for coming together to advance our understanding of school finance and operations.

On Tuesday, March 2, Texas Tribune’s Ross Ramsey hosted a panel of school finance hot topics, with TASBO’s Amanda Brownson, Weaver’s Adam Jones, and Raise Your Hand Texas’ Bob Popinski.
Wednesday, we closed voting for our board election and confirmed Lovejoy ISD’s Shay Adams as Vice President. Elaine Cogburn, from Leander ISD, was re-elected to a 3-year term. Phillip Ellison, from Spring ISD, and Jeffri Orosco, from Pflugerville ISD, are newly elected directors.
We heard from outgoing President Michele Trongaard as she addressed attendees for her farewell address, as she welcomed Midland ISD’s Darrell Dodds as the 2021-22 Board President. Thursday morning Dodds discussed his thoughts on TASBO’s near-future.
“I know we just finished the 75th conference,” Dodds said. “I hope we’re all able to get together and be in-person for a family reunion in June for the TASBO Summer Conference.”
