Midland ISD Chief Financial Officer Darrell Dodds will serve as TASBO's 2021-22 Board President.

TASBO has named Midland ISD Chief Financial Officer Darrell Dodds as President of its 2021-22 Board of Directors. Dodds succeeds Mansfield ISD’s Michele Trongaard in the position, which he assumed towards the conclusion of the 2021 Virtual TASBO Engage Conference.

TASBO members first elected Dodds to its board of directors in 2014, then elected him as Vice President in 2019. TASBO adopts an officer succession structure, so Dodds served as President-Elect before ascending to the President position. He also serves as President of the Permian Basin Affiliate of TASBO in the Region 18 Education Service Center.

“He’s one of the nicest guys I know,” said TASBO Executive Director Tracy Ginsburg. “I am excited that he will be leading TASBO this upcoming year.”

Dodds was raised in a family of educators. His father was a superintendent. Three uncles were superintendents. His immediate family has contributed 669 years of service to education. Even though he began his career in banking, Darrell says the best decision of his life was following in his family’s footsteps.

Dodds has worn many hats in his career, including Business Manager, Director of Finance, Director of Administration and Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. He even was Interim Superintendent. He has overseen district accounting & finance, PEIMS, purchasing, maintenance, transportation, and food service. He’s even driven a school bus and called ball games.

“I know we just finished the 75th conference,” Dodds said. “I hope we’re all able to get together and be in-person for a family reunion in June for the TASBO Summer Conference.”
