Kimberly Smith, CPA, Chief Finance & Strategy Officer at Frisco ISD, was one of 13 recipients of the 2024 RISE Award.

We are delighted to announce that Kimberly Smith, CPA, Chief Finance & Strategy Officer at Frisco ISD, has been recognized as one of the 13 exceptional recipients of the 2024 RISE Award by TASBO. This prestigious accolade celebrates Kimberly's remarkable contributions during her early years in her career, distinguishing her as a future leader in the profession.

Kimberly began in public accounting, where she developed a strong foundation in financial management. Her transition to school finance has been marked by her dedication to excellence and strategic vision. As a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program, Kimberly has honed her leadership skills and made significant strides in her professional journey. Additionally, she is a frequent presenter at TASBO events, sharing her expertise and insights with the broader school business community.

Reflecting on receiving the RISE Award she states, “I absolutely love my job and I'm so passionate about public education. The fact that somebody took notice of that and thinks I deserve an award for it is really flattering.,”

  • A current Active TASBO member for no more than 7 years as of August 31st
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and achievements in his/her role and the potential to lead the future of school business
  • Displays a desire to advance his/her career with continued engagement in TASBO
  • Has not won the award previously
