Steve Fisher with TASB Cooperative Purchasing discusses school purchasing trends and working with TASBO members in their Sponsor Spotlight.
We talked with Steve Fisher, Director of Cooperative Purchasing Services for BuyBoard, about purchasing trends, his interactions with TASBO members, and their sponsorship with TASBO.
What are some hot topics heading into this year?
Co-op purchasing is obviously growing. There's a lot more folks in that marketplace and it's certainly a trend that I think schools are beginning to embrace more and more. A lot more schools are relying on the co-ops to really do their business every day. I don't see that changing and I think it will probably continue to expand over the next few years.
What are some key initiatives for TASB Purchasing Services?
I think as far as our business is concerned, it’s probably just making sure we're doing what our members are needing us to do. There's always new venues and new contracts that come up, so we're always trying to stay in front of those.
What do you appreciate about TASBO members?
They're the lifeblood of public schools to tell you the truth. If they weren't around, I don't know how public school could operate. Obviously, you need the classroom, but there's so much more behind the classroom that has to happen and we're here to support them. They're a great group of people and we've always had a great relationship with them. It's been a long relationship with TASBO.
What are some additional benefits of your relationship with TASBO and the Strategic Partner Program?
It's been a great relationship as I said, and we really appreciate TASBO lending their hand and letting us participate in the way that we do. We take full advantage of a lot of that stuff, and I think it just cements the partnership that we have with them and really makes us a part of the Public Ed community, which we are, but this really solidifies it from an operational standpoint. It's been a good relationship with TASBO.
Thank you, Steve and TASB Cooperative Purchasing for your support for public education!
