How did you get your start in school business?
I started in school business right after I graduated from the University of North Texas.
What do you like best about your job and where you work?
Supporting our teachers and students at Dallas ISD.
Why do you recommend TASBO to your colleagues? What programs and services do you find helpful?
TASBO has proven to be a great resource over the years. Specifically, I have found that the accounting and legislative updates in public schools are very helpful.
What is your favorite TASBO training to attend and why?
The annual Engage Conference is a personal favorite. It’s a great networking tool for the thousands of school business officials who attend every year.
Who has inspired you in your career?
Mrs. Marian Hamlett, who is the Chief Financial Officer at America Can! Charter Schools.
What was your childhood dream job?
I always wanted to work in accounting!
Tell us one thing people would be surprised to know about you:
I am a very good cook! My favorite meal to cook is rice and fish stew.
What does it mean to you to be TASBO certified?
Earning my TASBO certification meant the world to me. I made dire sacrifices to earn my RTSBA.
Anything else you would like to include?
I have been attending TASBO events since becoming a member in 2011.
