Diane Mitchell, RTSBA Construction Services - Business Operations Manager | Dallas ISD

How did you get your start in school business?

Working as a temp employee for Kimi Tate, RTSBA in the Construction Services department of Dallas ISD. She recognized my talents and ability and I will always be grateful!

What do you like best about your job and where you work?

I get to be a problem solver and resourceful. Every day is different from yesterday.

Why do you recommend TASBO to your colleagues? What programs and services do you find useful?

I gain helpful info from every class and program I attend. There is not another school business organization that offers the knowledge transfer, networking and contacts like TASBO. I'm extremely glad to be a part of this organization!

What is your favorite TASBO training to attend and why?

Annual Conference is by far my favorite! Meeting so many new and interesting people and hearing their stories. (We share a lot of the same struggles and successes!)

What was your childhood dream job?

Fashion designer! I still love clothes and fashion. I watch a lot of movies and shows just to see the costumes and clothes they wear.

Tell us a fun fact (or two!) about yourself:

Being the mother of two grown boys, the only girls I have ever bought clothes for are my two adorable granddaughters - I always enjoy going overboard when shopping for them! Also, my father is ex-military, so we lived in England for three years during my childhood.

What's one thing you're excited about/looking forward to in the future?

Looking forward to my retirement and completing some minor renovations at my quaint house. I also hope to teach a class at TASBO one day. Then I can up my 'ribbon game' on my name badge at the TASBO Engage Conference!
