TRS Active Care Moves to Regional Rating

TRS ActiveCare is moving to a regional pricing structure.

TRS Has Announced that-ActiveCare will move to a regional rating system starting in the 2022-23 plan year.

According to TRS, this change was made due to the passage of Senate Bill 1444, which allows education employers to shop for coverage outside of TRS’ health plan. They are making the change, which will provide for variable pricing by region, in an effort to remain competitive with other plans across the state in order to keep more employers in the TRS-ActiveCare Plan.

On Sept. 1, 2022, education employers will have different TRS-ActiveCare rates based on their Education Service Center (ESC) region. T

TRS has posted a short video to help employers understand the coming changes:

TRS recently hosted regional rating meetings for education leaders across the state. They will also host a virtual meeting on Friday, Dec. 17th at 10 a.m. for those unable to attend previous meetings.

If you’re a leader within your institution and want to attend, reach out to healthcarecomm@trs.texas.gov to ask about registering.

TRS has a dedicated page for SB 1444 with more information at the Your Future, Your Way hub.
