Sponsor Spotlight: TASB Risk Management Fund

RMF 45

Since 1974 TASB Risk Management Fund has been in the risk management business offering comprehensive and responsive risk management solutions to Texas public schools.

We talked to Rosa Brown, Senior Risk Management Consultant, about Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund’s initiatives, her interactions with TASBO members, and their sponsorship with TASBO.

What are some hot topics heading into this year?
There are a few hot topics. One that first comes to mind are weather related property damage claims. We've had a lot of hailstorms in the last few years that have impacted property pricing, deductibles, coverage and even terms of the coverage.

Another topic that comes to mind is that the legislature is in session, so we're always monitoring what's going on at the Capitol to see if there's any legislation associated with risk management issues that may affect our members or even our coverage and services. Lastly, we are celebrating our 45th anniversary this year. Since 1974 we have been in the risk management business offering comprehensive and responsive risk management solutions to Texas public schools.

What are some key initiatives for TASB Risk Management Fund?
Rolling back to the weather related property claims, we are starting a roof maintenance program where we will train our members on how to best inspect and make sure that their property is in good condition, in good order, especially concerning roofs.

What do you appreciate about TASBO members?
TASBO members are really dedicated and committed to pursuing education through TASBO whether it be a small district with 14 students to the largest district with 108,000 students. They're all able to come to one place and get the knowledge and information they need to do their jobs effectively.

What are some additional benefits of your relationship with TASBO and the Strategic Partner Program?
I believe TASBO and TASB Risk Management are both in the same business of promoting excellence in public education. We've had a long-term relationship with TASBO, and we look forward to a long relationship with them in the future.

Thank you Rosa and TASB Risk Management Fund for your support for public education! Watch complete interviews below:
