To exemplify great leadership in public education, TASBO documented the journey of four volunteer leaders in the video series, “Profiles in Leadership.” Shay Adams, Darrell Dodds, Jennifer Land, and Michele Trongaard were all honored at the 2024 TASBO Engage Conference, where the video series debuted. This week's video focuses on Mansfield ISD Associate Superintendent of Business and Finance, Michele Trongaard.

Trongaard began her tenure at Mansfield ISD in 2020. She is very hands on with her team and other district and campus leaders. Trongaard focuses on "...everything involving school funding and the way those dollars are spent," per Mansfield ISD Superintendent Dr. Kimberley Cantu.

Prior to Mansfield ISD, Trongaard served as Wylie ISD's Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations. While there she helped the district secure ASBO International’s Pinnacle of Achievement Award for their response after a hailstorm impacted every campus.

Trongaard served as Board President in 2020-21 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. She led TASBO through a period of uncertainty, and guided the board in making difficult decisions. She's had a rich legacy of volunteer leadership for the school business and operations community at the affiliate, committee, and national level. While serving on the ASBO SFO Committee, she helped to rewrite the SFO exam.

“Michele is a remarkable leader,” said TASBO Executive Director Tracy Ginsburg. “We are honored to celebrate Michele and three other of our leaders in this video series.”
