TASBO welcomes Past Board Member Karen Wilson to the TASBO staff.
As part of the policy and research team with the Center for School Finance, TASBO has added Life Member Karen Wilson, CTSBO, CPA. She was introduced to staff remotely at an August staff meeting. She brings a wealth of hands-on experience as a CFO and can provide our members with practical, real-world advice.
Karen recently retired from Spring Branch Independent School District where she served as Associate Superintendent for Finance since January 2006. Prior to joining Spring Branch, she was Deputy Superintendent of Business Services and Associate Superintendent for Financial Services for Dallas Independent School District. Karen began her career in school business in 1984 in Katy ISD, serving as Business Manager when she resigned to move to Dallas. She has a BBA in Accounting from Abilene Christian University and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Texas School Business Official.
With 36 years of experience in Texas Public Schools, she also served the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) both as a member of the Board and as an Executive Officer, receiving TASBO’s Commitment to Excellence Award in 2008. While in Katy ISD, she was also an officer for Gulf Coast TASBO Affiliate. Karen has been a presenter and an instructor for TASBO and the Region IV Aspiring Superintendent’s Academy.
