Al McKenzie joins the Policy & Research Team
TASBO is thrilled to welcome Al McKenzie to the Policy & Research team. He comes to us from TEA, where he served as Director of Forecasting and Fiscal Analysis, having worked in the division of state funding since 2006. Before that, he worked at TEA in state funding and accountability in the 1990s and at the Legislative Budget Board.
“I was lucky to get to work with Al during my time and TEA and am thrilled that he agreed to join us at TASBO. He will be an invaluable resource for our members as they work through the complexities of the state aid system,” says, Amanda Brownson, TASBO Associate Executive Director of Policy & Research.
Al brings significant expertise regarding school finance and Texas education data. He worked closely with the state funding formula through numerous transitions, including the passage of House Bill 1 in 2007 and the passage of House Bill 3 in 2019.
